Self pay might be the only option for individuals who need treatment in a drug and alcohol treatment program for drug abuse but don't have any medical health insurance. It isn't uncommon for somebody hooked on drugs or alcohol to not have private medical insurance, as it can be difficult to have a drug or alcohol habit going while also maintaining employment.
