A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending those who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home could be getting involved in treatment services during residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home so that they can at one point live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, yet it's a sensible short-term option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
