A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home could be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home to enable them to at one point live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a practical short-term option for individuals who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
