TRICARE is health insurance that is provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would think, and the need to provide treatment to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to handle alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, in addition to rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People who have TRICARE will naturally be asked to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any kind of treatment service, that may be organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility is the favored rehab choice, TRICARE will cover a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very useful, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
