A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. Residents in the group home may be involved in rehab services while in residence, or might be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at some point live independently outside the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a practical short term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together.
