LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This can be a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to numb these feelings. A LGBT facility offers an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and treatment counselors problems which must be resolved to enable them to recover. Rehab counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug use, and is also a good example of something can be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to enable them to lead a healthy life without any alcohol and drugs.
