Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days a week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment choice.
