Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People who choose an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis each day or several days each week. This is often helpful for those who have just completed a more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation choice.
