TRICARE is medical insurance that is provided to members of the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is more common than one would think, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to address drug and alcohol dependence such as detox services, in addition to rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally be asked to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any sort of treatment service, which can be arranged using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program will be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits as to just how long a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very beneficial, as it could help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are skilled rehab counselors waiting to help today.
