Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those that decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services part-time daily or a few days weekly. This is helpful for many who have just completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities that provide treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
