Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This is very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which offer treatment on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
