Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment option.
