Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days per week. This is often helpful for many who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facilities that provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab choice.
