A group home for a person who has been involved in drug and alcohol abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but additionally, there are group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral trouble for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7. Residents inside a group home may be taking part in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some point live independently outside the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a feasible short-term option for individuals who want to get their lives back together.
