LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This may be a very hard or painful existence, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug abuse to numb this pain. Someone who is LGBT might not exactly feel at ease within a traditional rehab facility amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment that is free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally safe and comfortable revealing to their peers and treatment counselors problems which need to be handled in order to get better. Treatment counselors within a LGBT rehab will help clients fix relationships with their family members, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, and is also a good example of an issue that would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted within their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to be able to lead a healthy life free from drugs and alcohol.
