TRICARE is medical health insurance which is offered to members of the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is more common than one would imagine, and the necessity to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will obviously need to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any sort of rehabilitation service, which may be organized using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehabilitation option, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits regarding just how long a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very beneficial, as it may help include family members in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehabilitation counselors waiting to help today.
