Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For an individual with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which offer rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous treatment choice.
