TRICARE is medical insurance that is provided to people in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer treatment to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a variety of treatment services to address drug and alcohol dependence like detox services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will needless to say need to get a prior approval before partaking in any sort of rehabilitation service, which can be organized using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the favored treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits as to the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that is covered.
