LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, not understood, and seen as socially unwanted. This may be a quite challenging or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of substance abuse to alleviate this pain. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel at ease within a traditional rehab program amongst people who aren't experiencing the same problems they are experiencing of their lives. A LGBT program offers an environment that is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which should be resolved so that they can recover. Rehab counselors in the LGBT rehab can help clients mend relationships with their loved ones, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual choice as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and is also an illustration of something which would be resolved in treatment. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted within their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and build confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life without any drugs and alcohol.
