Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment you might normally have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time daily or several days weekly. This is often helpful for those who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehabilitation choice.
