Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be very helpful in circumstances where traditional treatment facilities have fallen short, including dealing with situations within a women's life that are unique and traumatic. Such issues may relate to sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or another serious issues that are particular to women. Similar to coed centers, drug rehab programs that provide rehab solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a 1st step. Following this step, counselors help women target both basic and gender specific problems which may have brought on their substance abuse. Women also utilize the beneficial support from their female peers, and several facilities that offer rehab services to women also provide client beds for her children.
