Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment you might ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or a few days each week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs which offer treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous treatment choice.
