Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in situations where standard treatment settings have fallen short, for example coping with situations within a women's life that are unique and traumatic. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or another significant issues which are specific to women. Research has shown that women could also get involved in abusing drugs more readily than men, and are more predisposed to illness due to dependency issues than males consequently. Due to duties in the home, women also tend to put off seeking out and receiving care for addiction, a situation which can be a catalyst for disaster. Being mindful of this, rehabilitation services for women are created to ensure that a women's needs are the concentration and priority.
