Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who choose an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis every day or several days weekly. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed a more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation alternative.
