Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide rehabilitation to address both addiction and mental health concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common situation for those involved with drug abuse, as those that have mental health problems often medicate themselves with drugs and alcohol to to feel some form of temporary relief from their disorder. In a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help individuals through a detailed rehab plan all targeted at restoring and stabilizing mental, emotional and physical health while addressing substance abuse problems. Providing a safe setting is vital to ensure that dual diagnosis clients can be relaxed and remain undistracted from circumstances which could compromise their program and development. Rehab counselors will continue to work to spot environmental factors in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things which have to be addressed in order for the person to be mentally stable and sober t after they depart dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral treatment that helps them develop more effective coping methods so that they are able to better deal with life situations more proficiently once they leave dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs as a possible solution.
