Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to address significant drug abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days a week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers which offer treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
