Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services part-time each day or several days a week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed a far more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities that provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation alternative.
