Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time each day or a few days a week. This can be very helpful for many who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For someone with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which provide rehab over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab alternative.
