Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically take part in meetings and take part in counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is helpful for many who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug use which is really a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab centers that provide rehab on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation alternative.
