Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or a few days per week. This is helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers that provide rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more effective treatment choice.
