Medicaid is a medical insurance available for those who are in certain income brackets which qualifies them to obtain this government provided insurance. Whether or not an individual qualifies for Medicaid doesn't only determined by their earnings however, and individuals shouldn't presume they don't qualify simply because they earn a good income. For example, people who have a lot of dependents may be entitled to Medicaid even when they make what would be considered a fair income. Medicaid may also cover the expenses of rehabilitation, if a person has been abusing alcohol or drugs and requires rehabilitation. There are several alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which accept Medicaid, but different states have distinct guidelines for what forms of rehab are covered. Some states only include outpatient rehab services for instance while other states cover far more extensive rehabilitation such as a residential stay in long-term alcohol and drug treatment center. If someone is involved with substance abuse and wants help, they are able to use their Medicaid health coverage to obtain this treatment. If they don't have Medicaid and also don't have the cash or any other form of health insurance to cover treatment, they could find out if they are eligible for a Medicaid and then sign up for a drug treatment program that's approved in their state.
