Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or several days a week. This is helpful for many who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation programs that provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
