Dual diagnosis rehabs are centers which provide rehabilitation to deal with both mental health and addiction concerns at the same time. Dual diagnosis is an extremely prevalent circumstance for individuals involved in drug and alcohol abuse, as individuals with mental health problems often self medicate with drugs and alcohol to to feel some kind of temporary respite from their disorder. Within a dual diagnosis rehab, rehab counselors will help people using a thorough rehab plan all targeted at restoring and replenishing mental, physical and emotional health while addressing substance abuse issues. Offering a safe and secure setting is essential so that dual diagnosis clients can feel at ease and remain free from distraction from things that could cut across their program and development. Rehab counselors will work to recognize environmental factors in the client's life including negative people in their lives or other things which have to be addressed in order for the individual to be mentally stable and abstinen t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also reap the benefits of behavioral rehab which helps them develop more efficient coping methods so they are able to better deal with life situations better after they depart dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs as a possible solution.
