Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to address significant substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days per week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a very small number of clients. For a person with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facilities which provide rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous rehab option.
