Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to take part in treatment services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily take part in meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis every day or a few days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which offer treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective treatment alternative.
