A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Instead of sending those who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help individuals sustain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home could be involved in treatment services during residence, or could possibly be taking measures to get their life setup outside the group home to enable them to at some time live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a feasible temporary option for many who making the effort to get their lives back together.
