Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment program. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do choose an outpatient rehab will usually show up at meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time daily or a few days a week. This can be very helpful for those who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation facilities that provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will probably be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
