LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the particular needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This can be a very hard and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT people to a lifestyle of drug abuse to alleviate this pain. A LGBT rehab provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel totally safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehab counselors problems which have to be resolved to enable them to get well. Rehab counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This circumstance is definitely a common trigger for substance abuse, and is a good example of something which would be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often simply want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and create confidence so that they can lead a wholesome life clear of drugs and alcohol.
