Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient option, it isn't for everyone. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or several days a week. This is often helpful for individuals who have just completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab programs which provide rehab on a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehab option.
