TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to handle drug and alcohol dependence like detoxification services, along with rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will of course need to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any type of treatment service, which is often arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center could be the preferred treatment choice, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about the length of time a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30-45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment that may be very useful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and process of recovery.
