TRICARE is medical health insurance that is provided to individuals in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers a variety of rehab services to address drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, in addition to rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be asked to get a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehabilitation service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient facility will be the preferred rehabilitation choice, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are specific limits about how long a TRICARE member can stay within an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which may be very helpful, as it could help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors ready to assist you today.
