Criminal justice client rehabs are available being a significantly better option than time in jail or heavy fines for those who have been convicted of any sort of alcohol or drug related crime. For instance, somebody who has been found guilty of dui of drugs or alcohol may be eligible to receive rehabilitation services because of their problem rather than serving time in prison. The judge could even order that the individual receive rehab, either alone or in addition to other sentencing. New offenders in particular tend to be given the opportunity to select a criminal justice client rehab instead of other sentencing, and it is highly recommended that they reap the benefits of it if it is a choice. The idea behind criminal justice client rehabs is that it is way more efficient and effective to invest time and energy into rehabilitation than punishment. Much research has been carried out to observe how effective this approach is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the criminal justice client returns or not to criminal justice system following rehabilitation. The signs and indicators seem to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients that do experience rehabilitation have a much better potential for remaining out of the system following treatment.
