A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability within their lives and also have counsel and support at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside inside a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or may be taking steps to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at one point live independently outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain employment. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a feasible temporary option for individuals who want to get their lives back together again.
