A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral trouble for example. As an alternative to sending people who are being affected by drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help sustain stability within their lives and still have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside within a group home may be taking part in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home to enable them to at one point live independently outside of the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, however it is a feasible short term option for many who are attempting to get their lives back together.
