TRICARE is health care insurance which is provided to people in the military of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to provide rehabilitation to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to deal with drug and alcohol dependence such as detoxification services, in addition to treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. People with TRICARE will obviously need to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any kind of rehab service, which may be arranged with their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in this program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are certain limits regarding how long a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which is often very useful, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No person in the military should fight this battle alone, and there are skilled rehab counselors waiting to help today.
