A group home for a person who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for people in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for folks with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending those who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home may be involved in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at some time live on their own outside the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, however it is a viable temporary option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
