Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which deliver treatment to address both addiction and mental health issues concurrently. Offering a safe and secure environment is key so that dual diagnosis clients can be comfortable and remain undistracted from circumstances that could compromise their treatment plan and advancement. Rehabilitation counselors will continue to work to identify environmental issues in the client's life including negative relationships or any other things which need to be addressed in order for the person to remain mentally healthy and sober t after they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehab which will help them develop more effective coping mechanisms so they are better able to handle life situations more proficiently if they leave dual diagnosis rehab as opposed to returning to alcohol and drugs as a possible solution.
