TRICARE is medical insurance which is offered to folks in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use inside the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to offer rehabilitation to these individuals is a vital priority. TRICARE covers many different rehab services to handle alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will needless to say be required to get a prior authorization before partaking in any kind of rehabilitation service, that may be organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program could be the preferred rehab choice, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits concerning just how long a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window that's covered.
