TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, as well as rehabilitation in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Individuals with TRICARE will naturally be asked to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any type of treatment service, that may be arranged using their regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program is the preferred rehab option, TRICARE covers 21 days or one inpatient stay in such a center per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can remain in the inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling that may be very useful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No person in the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are skilled treatment counselors standing by to assist you today.
