Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. Those that choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time each day or several days each week. This is very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a very small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide treatment over a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
